His cloak of mercy

"Is It Safe to Be in Cuba?"

This question often weighs heavily on the minds of many. A recent event from our mission trip provides a profound answer.

After God, through the generosity of people like you, provided everything we needed—battery backup supplies, medicines, clothing, food, and Christmas craft supplies—our team of five faced the daunting task of getting our ten suitcases, packed to the brim, through Cuban customs.

The tension was palpable as a team member and I sat before the customs officials. Concerned but determined, we tried not to panic while silently praying for God’s intervention. What happened next can only be described as a miracle.

Although our suitcases were filled with taxable supplies meant for Cuban pastors, the officials’ attention was inexplicably drawn to a single item: a set of cordless microphones requested by one of the pastors. They were oblivious to the rest of the contents.

For two excruciating hours, the officials examined the microphones with intense curiosity. They asked questions, wrote documents, and meticulously packaged the equipment as if handling a novel treasure. To our surprise, they held onto the microphones, instructing us to retrieve them upon our departure from the country.

And just like that, we were cleared to go. Over the following days, we joyfully distributed every single gift you so generously provided to the pastors in need. Everything—except the microphones—made it to its intended destination.

This experience was a stark reminder of God’s power and provision. Your prayers and support made this mission possible, and for that, we are profoundly grateful. Praise God for His faithfulness and for your role in making this mission a success.

A light in the darkness:  God’s provision in Cuba

Imagine this: you wake up tomorrow to find out that electricity will only be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the day. The next day, power will shift to 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. How would your routine change? How would you cook, work, or even sleep? This isn’t an exercise in imagination—it’s the daily reality for most Cubans. For some, like our close friends in the countryside, electricity has been limited to no more than two hours per day for over a year. This is how broken things have become in Cuba.

With this system, the power outages no longer dominate your life. When the electricity cuts off, your battery backup system kicks in, giving you up to four days of light, refrigeration, and the ability to charge phones and laptops. Even more precious, it powers fans, allowing you to sleep without the torment of mosquitoes.

But the story doesn’t end there. As darkness engulfs the neighborhood, your home becomes a beacon of light—a literal lighthouse in a sea of blackness. This newfound light isn’t just for you; it’s a platform for ministry. Cuban pastors now have an incredible opportunity to serve their neighbors, meeting tangible needs while sharing the love of Jesus and testifying to God’s miraculous provision.

Picture the joy on their faces and the gratitude in their hearts as they raise their hands in praise. This isn’t just about power; it’s about empowerment—to serve, to love, and to shine God’s light into the darkest corners of their communities. Praise God for His faithfulness and for allowing YOU to be part of His plan.
