God in the smallest of details

GOD IN THE DETAILS

Psalm 34:18
"The Lord is near to the broken hearted,
and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Processing our last trip into Cuba has us realizing that truly we have a God who is so in the details.  The constant daily struggle the Cuban people face allowed us to get a better understanding of how extremely worn and worn out they are.  Nationwide power cuts due to the hurricanes (and extremely old power grids) and their battle to keep their hard sought after food supplies from spoiling, are just a few of the hardships they are facing.  Yet, woven in and out of all these very difficult realities, throughout the women's conferences and visits with national pastors we saw God in specific, present, kind and caring ways. The Lord continued to draw people (and us) back to the sure hope that can only be found in the person of Jesus Christ.

Below are some photos and videos that we hope will give you a sense of how wonderful this trip was.

The ladies arrived to the Women of Hope Conferences by foot,
motorcycle, car and even by tractor.

Oh how they worshipped from the depths of their souls.

THE GIFT OF TOGETHERNESS
What a privilege it was to come alongside these leaders in their struggles and supernatural joy of serving the Lord in Cuba.  Just being "present", sitting together in the "hard" places, listening to heavy uncertainties of life and together sharing the load - was a gift.  Pics below tell it all.

1st ever 'work day' was more than we hoped for ...

The cars kept arriving, people tumbled out, smiles were big and everyone gave of themselves as we "worked together".  What a faith building day for both Kathy and I.   Kids painted and played, teenagers washed dishes, cleared around ponds & hauled rocks, bathrooms were sparkled, kitchen set up, playgrounds put together and painted, swings hung from trees, tons of weed eating & trails were blazed, beds, luggage racks & furniture put together, rooms decorated, benches spray painted, windows scraped & cleaned, .... we could go on and on... truly.

But far above all the work that was accomplished, our hearts were flooded with the love shown by each person  who prayed for us, wanted to come but couldn't, and for all those others who did make it and made it such an amazing & rewarding day.    We thank each and every one of you.  Here are a few pics that share the love.
